Winter

Happy Holidays everyone!  I'm sorry I haven't posted for so long, I've become busy with school and other activites. This is going to be a long post because I just got my new brace and I have clothes that I got for Christmas to share! I'll start with the clothes first.
Outfit #1
(Most of the outfits I just changed the tops so the boots and jeans will be the same :)
Layering is such a great way to hide your brace during the winter! It will keep you warm and hide those bulky bumps your brace makes. You can layer with pratically anything too, making it easy. I usually layer alot with jackets and different types of necklaces. In this outfit though I have a plaid shirt under a white sweater.

Outfit #2
I got this leather jacket for Christmas and I am absolutely in LOVE with it. I really like watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and she always wears a leather jacket so I thought if I get one I could beat everyone up if they were mean to me. Sadly it doesn't give me super strength. It is still cute though, and it will keep you warm. Since mine is brown/black it will go with alot of things too.
Outfit #3
This isn't really a outfit. It's just some fingerless gloves I also got. I really like them though. For school Civics class is all online this year so I can type without my hands getting cold!

Outfit #4
This was a present from my mom and dad. They know I love pink and my mom saw alot of other girls wearing them so she thought I might like one. It's so cool, soft, and warm inside. I just layered it over a gray long sleeved v-neck. With jeans of course.

Outfit #5
Sweatshirts are a saver for everyone in the winter. I see some kids at my school that wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants to school. It's conveinable because if you just want to be comfortable and hide your brace just wear that and no one will notice your brace! It looks so comfortable too and it will definetely keep you warm.

Outfit #6
Again not a outfit. I got some jewelry from Aeropostle in my stocking which I thought I could show. The first thing is the necklace which has basically two strings with hearts on them. It's so cute and it can be either casual or fancy.

The second necklace is long and has different colored hearts strung on it. I really like it because it has pink hearts on it too. :)

I got these studs too. They came in those packs with three in each. I love all of them but my favorite are the sparkly pink ones!

Sorry the pictures aren't great, I used my mom's Iphone
Ok now it is time for my latest doctors appointment!
Last Friday I had to wake up early and go to my brace doctor who actually measures me for the braces. I just got my third brace which I named Pika. Like in Pokemon who Pikichu always says "PIKA!" right before he fights. It's white and it actually fits because he just measured me. So the pads are pushing in the right place and it's really uncomfortable. I can't get it on by myself yet so I'm not sure what I'm going to do in gym. I have health right now though so I don't have to worry about it. I got my first brace the end of July 2011. Second brace came Spring of 2012. This is in the Winter of 2012. I really hope this may be one of my last braces! Please leave comments on what everyone would like me to post about. I think I should do one on what to wear under the brace and formal wear. I'm going to decorate my brace to so I'll do a post on that :)

XOXO Ellen

These are all wonderful books and T.V. shows (and 1D)!!!! Ok so I don't have any pictures today but I have some good stores to check out! The Marshalls where I live got redid so now they have this whole cube for juinors, it's amazing. They have cheap clothes that are in style. So if you have a Marshalls where you live you should check it out. Target is good too, they have cheap clothes. Forever 21 is good too. That's all for now really.

New Blog

Hi everybody, just wanted to say that you should check out this new blog.
://scoliosisfashionandbraceadvice.blogspot.com/
It's another scholosis blog that like :)
Also I have some news, in a few weeks I'm going to get my third brace! I have no idea what color it should be, my first was white, this one is pink but third is a mystery. I'll talk more about that once I have the appointment.
More Ellen outfits! I got the yellow top from Marshalls, the belt and the scarf are my mom's which i'm just "borrowed" and the jeans are from Aeropostle.
I need advice though, I bought my jeans a size or two bigger to wear with my brace but they're two big! Whenever i use a belt is just sort of slides of my brace. If anyone has a solution please comment!

2 More Pictures

Just wanted to post two more pictures quickly!
This officially my favorite jacket. It's a jean jacket from Target. The tank is from Target. The shirt is actually a dress thingy from Hollister. The belt is my mom's. Jeans from Aeropostle. I'm also wearing some black boots that are sort of like Uggs just a different company.

Dress I've already posted a picture but i found a new way to wear it! It wasn't actually my idea to layer the top under the dress. I went to Kassica's other blog and I was reading through when i found a bunch of links to blogs so i clicked on the first and it toke me to A Beautiful Mess and i clicked Fashion title on it and there was this a picture of a t-shirt layered under a dress! It's such a great idea! Anyway the dress is from Target so is the shirt. I don't know where i had that belt. The necklace is from some mall in some state.
Leave a comment if you want me to post on something!

Catching Up About Everything

I'm sorry that I haven't posted in over a month, a lot has been going on in my last year of middle school. October 14th I slept without my brace for a night because I had to take an x-ray to see where my normal scholosis curves where without the brace. It was amazing sleeping without it, you just get used to sleeping in a shell. You get used to alot of things with your brace on. For example in the beggining of October I went to this field trip to the Edge. It was teambuilding activites so I had to take my brace off for school that day, a little past my amount but it was for an special occasion. Well anyway all the people going to the Edge go to first period then they dimiss to the buses so I had my brace off during chorus. Everyday in Chorus we stretch and touch our toes but I could never touch my toes since I had my brace on. I'm in the back row in chorus though so I can just pretend to bend. That day though I could actually stretch and it seems like no big deal but just having it off and actually doing what everyone else was doing with nothing plastic to stop me was fun. During the field trip it was sort of ok, but it ended up being my favorite day of school so far this year since I didn't have to worry about someone accedently knocking into me and asking "What is that?!" I'm going back to the doctor thing, I can get sidetracked often... My first brace doctor apointment was with Dr.Good an amazing spinal doctor or whatever it's called. My curves were worse without the brace one but that was expected. It wasn't that bad though in the low thirties I think. You never really know when you get your brace off but the doctors said this was a critical year of growing for me, like I was going to get taller, finally. They expected me to get my brace off in the beginning of my second year of high school. So I'm about halfway there :( It seems so far away but I can't believe first quarter is already over! Plus something might happen and I might be done in a year, something I'll be praying for. My second brace doctor appointment was for my actual brace to see if I would need a new one or anything. I think I'm going to get a new one this December so I'll be on brace number three. It's still undecided but I would need to pick a color. I'm thinking about purple...or tie die but that's harder to hide under clothes. Who cares though? Now onto more normal life subjects. Taylor Swift's new album came out and I highly recommend it. She's taking a new turn in her musical carrer and there is a lot more pop in her songs but it's still amazing like always. Halloween is right around the corner to so HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! I just love higlighting things and capping them :) I'm going to be a vampire this year, I have a long black dress I have to wear for chorus concerts that I'll wear and a long red cape. My mom is going to do my make up so it'll look like I'm a vampire. Hurricane Sandy is coming so I'm hoping it won't rain out Halloween. It will cancel my field trip tommorow though to the constitution center in Pennslyvannia. That's a plus since I don't even know what we are going to do there and we have to be at school by five-thirty and I just do not function that early. Here is a few outfits I made too, I'm working on my layering skills.
The jeans, vest, gray long sleved shirt are from Targer. The orange peace shirt is a hand me down and the scarf is from five below. If you look closly in this picture and the one below it the sea horse is gone and I now have a poster of Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. My two favorite T.V. shows in history! I just finished watching the last episode of Angel, it made me cry. I started watching a new show though Once Upon A Time which is pretty good. I've only watched the first episode though so I might watch another one later today.

This is one I toke from summer and I forgot to post it. Shorts from Target and tank top. The blue layering thing is from Walmart

I toke a picture in a new spot. I usually take the picture from my laptop and put it on my desk but it's covered with clothes right now so I can't without putting them away which I didn't feel like doing. I have no idea where the skirt and leggings are from. Vest from Target, scarf from Five below. The purple top is a hand me down.

That's all for now, seriously if you made it down my post this far I congratualte you. Alot of the beginning was just me rambiling which I do a lot.

I used to have another brace but I grew out of it. I have no idea where it is now but if I find it I will take a picture. Sorry I haven't posted anything interesting in awhile I'll try and do something more fashion orieted next time :) Also please leave a comment if there is anything else you want me to post on, I'll try my best to write one about it.

Gym Class

Ok, so I haven't posted in awhile, if there are people who read my blog I'm sorry. :) lol. Ok so last year in seventh grade one big problem on my mind was, were people going to make fun of me in gym because of my brace? Would i get nicknames like um plastico or something? (that wasn't imagintive but whateves) The first day we had to change out I was freaking out. I was worrying about it all day to because it was eight period. At our school we don't have block scheduling we have eight periods a day. Well it was sort of scary at first and no one said anything. Then I remember when we changed back, it toke longer to put my brace back on so some people asked some questions. After a few days it got easier and easier and I even talked while putting my brace on and off. This year in eighth grade it was really easy putting it on and off. It's also sometimes a relief to to let your friends know. I find it difficult though and sort of akward to outright say I have a brace. It's different for everyone though. I keep my brace on the bench where we change out and no one touches it or anything.
I hope this helps! Please follow and comment!!

It's so cool! I want to find out how to make those now. Mine would be pink and sparkly with frolicking lambs on it with the words THE BRACE KASE. I can envision it now so pretty :P

I have had
1) Who's your fav 1D member (Mine's Niall)
2) Best hit song now (We Are Never Ever Getting Together)

Taylor Swift & Marshalls

I know this has nothing to do with scholosis or back braces but...TAYLOR SWIFT'S NEW SONG IS OUT!!! I'm so excited for her album coming out in October 22 called: Red. :D She changed her style of music alot but I still love the song. It's called "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" :) Ok this next thing deals with clothes so we are getting back to what my blog is about. The shopping center where we live has a Marshalls and every once in awhile me and my mom go there to get stuff. They just renavated (I have no idea how to spell that ;) it and they have a whole juniors section with really cute clothes in it. They had like 7$ tops and stuff which is really good compared to Hollister prices. Here's the stuff that I got from Marshalls.
This pretty striped top which works super well with the brace because
1) The bottom and sleves are banded so when you strecth the top dosen't move alot
2) With a tank under it it is not at all see through.
3) Covers all of the brace

I will put the other outfits in another post I'm too lazy right now to change into all of them :P
Please Comment and Follow :D:D:D:D

Another Blog to Comment and Follow and Doctors and Clothes

Through youtube I have found another blog that is about scholosis. The URL is Http://timesthroughscoliosis.blogspot.com/
she also has a youtube series of videos too her name is
Please visit them!
Ok so a few weeks ago I had a doctor's appointment for my actual scholosis and one for my brace. The first one I had was with Dr.Good for my scholosis curves. They were really good espeacially compared to my last x-ray which was taken out of my brace and in the thirties. The top was in the twenties and the bottom was like 18 degrees!!! That is just what the doctors siad they had hoped for but they did want the top to go down a little too but I was happy :) Then I went too my doctor that adjusts my brace and puts new pads on and stuff. There was this one pad which was killing me so much right under my right armpit but the doctor put some type of thing on the pad so it is easier still not great but easier. Ok anyway nothings really happening but I was sick yesterday so I missed my swim meet, which is a good thing! :D I also wanted to say that once you get your brace I start to make connections to songs and T.V. (media things). A really popular song right now is Titanium by David Gueatta feat Sia. It says throughout the song "You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am Titanium" and that reminds me of my brace, "I'm bulletproof nothing to lose" is also in the song. *cough* I'm bulletproof ;). Also me and my family love the Simpsons it is one of our nightly shows with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Well we were watching and Lisa commented on Milhouse's Finding Nemo Back Brace :) It made me laugh. Now I have a few pictures.
This was a handy down dress from my mom's friend's niece I think but it is a little big. It is more of a nicer outfit not for a summer day but for like going out to food :) I like food. The belt was a handy down and jacket from Target.

A cute summer outfit just for a hot day follow up at the pool for your braceless hours. Best time of the day. The top is a handy down, tank and shorts from Target. (Incoming story for the boots!) My dad gave me and my mom shoe shopping money for my brace one year anniversy! So I bought these boots and with coupons and sales it wasn't too much and they are good quality so a good buy from DSW!
Close Up of the Boots.
A strapless handy down top. With a target tank and jacket and shorts. Easy summer outfit I went to a Rita's opening day in this wiht my friends :) they had free regular sized italian ice the first two days it was yummy :D
Hope you enjoyed!

What To and Not to wear

Wear this! This is a cute blouse from Love Culture that woud be perfect for your brace. The bottom of the top is banded or tight so when you strecth the top wan't come up. Same with the arms they are flowly until the end they are banded so you can't see the brace either when you strecth or something. The back also comes up pretty high which will cover the top of your brace. The neckalace is a cute touch too!

Don't wear this! This is a tight skirt from Love Culture but you can get these at alot of different stores. When I strecth to the right side the left bottom part of my brace outlines and kind of juts out a little with some of my shorts. This skirt though would outline your brace the whole time and it looks like it would be very hard to move in too.

Wear this! All of these skirts are cute and would fit with your brace! (except the Warehouse one might not be the best for your brace) The Forever 21 skirt flows out a little bit so no outlining there. It also has that band that if you put on right above your hip where the brace curves in a little it will stay. Same with all the other skirts up here that have bands. Escpacially the Mod Cloth, New Look, and Orla Kiely. They all flow out and have that band that works well with the spot above your hip. (Actually I can't tell if the Mod Cloth flows out or is tight but flow=good, tight=bad!) Overall I love all of these skirts but it's the prices thats another thing. :D

Don't Wear! Obviously this is one of the worst tops for the brace. It leaves the back open and the side things of the brace in plain view. It is also tight in the top showing the outline of the brace and making it really uncomfortable. Never wear this with your brace on!!!

I hope this helps! :)

Clothes

I have a few more outfits that work with the brace

The yellow v-neck was a form fitting shirt from Target so it showed the straps in the back. I just put a hollister tank over it so it's more layered. The vest helps cover the top of my brace and its cute! :) The skirt is from Target.
Hollister ruffle pink jacket + ruffled top from target= RUFFLE OUTFIT! You could pair this with jeans, shorts, skirts ect.
This is a a pair of old jeans with a hollister top and a pink tank over it because some of hollister shirts you can see plastic through.A white jean jacket for fun.
This are Target sparkle jeggings but sadly the sparkles have all come off from the wash :(. A paisley top thats nice because when you strecth the shirt won't come up. A handy-down jacket from my aunt.
Same top from the first outfit but a different tank over it. A layering jacket and a necklace my Uncle gave to me. I'm also wearing a cute teal beanie but it wasn't in the picture.
